Sure Signal Fire Alarm Recall

The manufacturer Sure Signal Products is recalling 375,000 heat-activated fire alarms due to defective fuses which are thought to be present in many of the products. As a result, these alarms may fail to alert consumers to fires in their home, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The models affected by the recall are: DeTech FST2004H, MasterGuard QR50, Responsive TR70-R and Thermalink QR50. Each are either white or chrome in color, and were manufactured from January 1, 2004 through July 1, 2015. The SSP, the temperature and the date code are all printed on the back of the fuse.

All homeowners are urged to check their fire alarms to ensure they were not built with one of these defective fuses. If you have been affected by this recall, you can contact Signal Products at 855-202-3083 from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and they will ship you a free replacement fuse.

According to the company, there have been no incidents or injuries reported as a result of these defective fuses which may cause fire alarms not to do their intended job. However, as with all defective products, there is a constant danger to consumers when a product does not do what they depend on it for.
