A traffic accident at the at the intersection of North Johnson and Poland Avenue has claimed the life of an as-yet unidentified 80-year-old woman. The fatal wreck occurred around 12:15 p.m. on Monday in New Orleans, LA.
Detectives Still Investigating Fatal Crash
According to police, the 80-year-old woman was attempting to drive her SUV through the Poland Avenue intersection on North Johnson when she was hit by a car driven by a 38-year-old man. Although the man who hit her was not seriously injured, the elderly woman was brought to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Unfortunately, very little is still known about this fatal wreck. Detectives are still investigation the crash, and blood and alcohol test results are pending. In the meantime, no citations have been issued. An autopsy will be performed by the Orleans Parish Coroner to find the woman’s cause of death, and her name will be released following the autopsy.
