A single-vehicle motorcycle accident in New Orleans East claimed the life of a LaPlace LA man on Wednesday night. According to authorities, the unidentified 34-year-old man was driving his motorcycle westbound on Almonaster Ave. when he lost control, struck an overpass guardrail, and was thrown from the bike.

Police were alerted to the accident around 10:00 p.m., and found the motorcycle on top of the Almonaster Ave. overpass. Unfortunately, the man had landed beneath a rail car on the train tracks below, and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Police are still investigating the crash, and blood and alcohol testing are still pending.
